‘Changing PML president, secy general not a problem’
LAHORE: Former prime minister Mir Zafrullah Khan Jamali sees no problem in changing the president and secretary general of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML). Speaking on Geo television’s ‘Capital Talk’ on Wednesday, Jamali said he had left the PML but was still a Muslim leaguer and wanted all PML factions to unite and contest the upcoming general elections on one platform. Jamali reiterated his demand that the four provinces be divided into smaller administrative units to end one province’s hegemony over the others. He said that was why he had asked for a re-constitution of Pakistan. Jamali said the Election Commission had botched up the information relating to his family’s district in the new voters’ list. “My family’s votes were listed in Dera Murad Jamali while my constituency is Rojhan Jamali,” he said. The former prime minister said that one should not doubt President Musharraf’s statement that he would not act against the Constitution. He said he supported President Musharraf’s contention. Election Commission Secretary Kunwar Dilshad said on the show that the number of voters had diminished in the new voters list because voters who did not have new identity cards had not been included in the list. daily times monitor
